Over the years I have had the privilege of meeting many of the top people in our industry, on every level - producers, recording engineers, equipment suppliers, acoustical engineers, studio builders, equipment financiers, etc. I have helped many clients from start to finish to build their recording studios - start their own record label - acquire their own national distribution, etc.
The purpose of the consultant, when it comes to starting your own business, is to save you thousands of dollars by showing you what not to do. In one particular instance, I helped a fellow in Maryland start his recording studio from the ground up. Before he called me, he was ready to spend $140,000 on equipment. I convinced him that was $60,000 too much. I showed him the facts - there was certain equipment that was redundant. There were other things regarding how he was going to run his business that were wasteful. My consulting fee not only paid for itself but saved him almost $50,000 in additional expenses!
Fortunately, having been in the industry for many years, I have the knowledge to help you start your own recording studio, your own label, set up your own distribution and your own radio promotion. I work with virtually every professional aspect of the business.
One client from Moline, Illinois wanted to build a small studio. We spent three days with him. We handled the artwork for his business card, stationary, envelopes, invoices, etc. We put him with a supplier who saved him thousands of dollars on some recently used equipment. We put him in touch with an acoustical technician who helped design his control room and main studio. We had an engineer from Nashville (who has built some of the finest studios in America) come to Moline and assemble all of the equipment so that when he left, seven days later, our client had a fully operating turn-key recording operation. That was fourteen years ago. He is still in business and very successful. I'm pleased to say that I am still retained as his consultant for every aspect of his business.
If you are considering building your own recording studio, starting your own label, or getting national distribution, or any other aspect of the recording and music industry - please give me a call. I look forward to giving you quotes and to helping you put your dream together.
